In our very competitive real estate market, it is imperative not only to reach potential buyers, but that you capture their attention. One of the most innovative ways is by adding drone footage to your property videos. We have two new additions to our collection of video equipment which we believe has helped our listings reach more buyers

Handheld Drones
Although it is not practical to fly a drone through a house (ask my houseplants after Claude’s first trial), the DJI Osmo is a handheld stabilized camera, with three-axis gimbal, and grip, that shoots 4K video, giving you the capability of “floating”, drone-like video of the interior of your home, without the risk of flying a machine indoors. This fluid stabilized video footage really helps buyers understand the flow of your home.

Aerial Drones
The latest toy in our arsenal is Claude’s DJI Phantom 4. It features 4k video, 20 meg camera and three-axis gimbal, live video and advanced flight controller, and with it we are able to take some spectacular footage of our listings! Imagine seeing pictures on MLS of an acreage with trees, hills, and maybe a small lake on the property. Now imagine clicking the video link and seeing drone footage and arial views of the trails, flying low over the water, and soaring up for a bird’s eye view! Using a drone really shows off the assets of a property and captures the attention of buyers, enticing them to take a closer look.
It is important to keep in mind that you can have all the drone and Osmo footage in the world, but if the video is poor quality or doesn’t show the right thing, it could be a detriment to your marketing. A cool drone shot that shows a busy road, rusty car bodies in the yard or peeling paint on the side of a building will not entice buyers to come view your property. The drone video footage needs to be incorporated with interior video and stills, descriptions, and music into a final product that will show a property’s best features. We strive to invoke emotion in a prospective buyer, capturing their attention and prompting them to book an appointment to view the property.

Here is an example of how Drone Footage from an Osmo and an Aerial Drone can add to your Listing Video.

If you do decide aerial drones are a must for selling your home, make sure your agent is a UAV Certificate Holder and has insurance to fly a drone. Claude has his certificate from Transport Canada.
